GRAPHICA DEVELOPS 2007 SUSTAINABLE
DEVELOPMENT REPORT FOR NEWPAGE

DAYTON, Ohio (August 6, 2008)—For the third year in a row, NewPage Corporation, the largest coated paper manufacturer in North America, has partnered with Graphica, a branding and integrated communications firm, to develop its annual sustainable report.

The 2007 Sustainable Development Report details the state-of-the-company for NewPage, which has operations in six states and Canada, with an emphasis on the company’s environmental principles, practices and performance. This year’s report integrated some details from Stora Enso North America, a former competitor that was acquired by NewPage in December 2007.

“Naturally we were pleased that NewPage once again trusted us to design and produce this very essential document,” Graphica President Jeff Stapleton said.

“The sustainable report not only doubles as an annual report for NewPage employees, customers and stakeholders, it also serves as a sample for NewPage’s high-quality products,” Stapleton continued. “We used cutting-edge design to show off the best qualities of the paper while creating a unique, inviting format for the report.”

The report is printed on NewPage’s Centura® line of paper, which is chain-of-custody certified by three independent third-party systems, using vegetable-based inks.

At NewPage’s request, Graphica also sourced printers with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification. Graphica and NewPage ultimately chose Think Patented, the first graphic communications firm in the Dayton area to attain chain-of-custody certification under the FSC. The certification gives Think Patented customers the option of having their jobs printed on paper that originates from responsibly managed forests.
